Here are my Five all-time favourite bonkers electronic tunes that got me all shivered up and goose pimpley when I heard them the first time.

It’s a YouTube Playlist!! – which means you’ll have to click on the little lines in the top left hand corner to see all five. Hmmm.

Let me explain …

Dr Who Theme by Delia Derbyshire :  If you listen to this Radio 4 documentary then you’ll hear the incredible way that Delia created this music – you can hear samples of the theme, broken down, and it’s far more musically complex than it sounds.  Did me noodle in then, as it still does now.  Pity the BBC have mangled it for subsequent series … Buy an mp3 of it on Amazon Or its on a CD of Dr Who sounds on iTunes.

Lil Louis – French Kiss – such a simple and audacious idea, nothing I’d heard like this before. Buy an mp3 of this on Amazon!

The Prodigy – Charly – I really like the way that the synths were being bent and mangled – man over machine (in the same way harmonica players bend notes that shouldn’t be bent), really a seminal tune for me. It’s the ‘Alley Cat’ mix on this EP from Amazon or iTunes!

Tangerine Dream – section from Rubicon, where the sequencer kicks in (at about 7:00 mins in) good golly gosh and wonders beholden, that sets me ‘airs a bristlin’!  I’ve often tried to re-create this simple sequencer (arpeggio) sound with modern synths that weren’t available to TD – to no avail.  Guess it had to be analogue and wobbly. Buy it in mp3, CD or …. Vinyl (best version, really) : Amazon!

UFO & Marley Feat. Hixxy – The Underground – Forward ever, backward never, ravers come follow me ...”.  this is hilarious rapping – but the sequence that follows it sends me skywards.  I first heard this from Bonkers X, Hixxy Mix in the car (fast, blue) on the way home through beautiful Dorset countryside on a Friday evening coming home from work – might have met the end of me days it was so exhilarating!  Good way to go though.  Truly uplifting. Get the whole Bonkers X CD set on Amazon!!

My favourite electronic tunes were the Doctor Who theme and French Kiss.
I always loved the programme Doctor Who and listening to the theme tune brought me back to happy childhood memories!
French Kiss tune is really upbeat starting dancing around the kitchen listening to it.
Very enjoyable post!
Made me want to download the tunes.

Thanks for that, don’t have French Kiss on too loud – there’s some, er, interesting sounds in the middle!

Yes, I like Dr Who as a programme too – it’s still on, actually! I simply loved the way that Delia created the theme tune,a work of genius in my opinion!

    Thanks,

    Andy

Such a different approach compared to most for marketing, utilizing a passion of yours (music) and creating playlists for people to enjoy and download their favorite songs if not all of them! It’s ingenious even! Keep up the good work and drive traffic to your site and watch the sales sore, best of luck to you!

Hello Tyler – really glad you liked it, I’m ever so ‘umbled by your comments!

Hopefully I can keep all this jollyness up – but then I get to listen to all this bonkers music, should be easy!

    Cheers,

    Andy

Hi Andy,
I viewed your site, it was great starting point. If you love music like me, you will be successful ,but it needs more work to be attractive, and to get more trust, I think you should put your photo in the about me. Go ahead Andy, and get more success.

    Hi Ali,

Yup, this photo will be going up there soon! Hope it’s ok …

And how do I make it more attractive, then,eh? I try to let the sounds speak for themselves, though, and I want to keep it all very simple, layout-wise – I’ll be tinkering with different themes, to get it just right. Such a lot to do!

    Cheers

Hi Andy,
That was a great a job that you did in your article as you reviewed 5 classic tunes, as well as provided links so that people could hear some of them audibly.

I’m sure that individuals truly interested in that type of music would have gained a lot of knowledge and further interest based simply on the creative manner in which you presented the article.

Great job on your part, sir!

Jeff
